THE SOLUTION:

After weeks of observation, empathy mapping and interviewing stakeholders we found not only did The Guild need a signage and wayfinding system, but also needed an environment and aesthetic that felt true to the personality of this community. We designed a wing system that separated the school and building into The Neighborhood, The Ocean, and The Forest and created graphic murals, iconography, type and color hierarchy, and directional signage based on those themes.

The Guild for Human Services offers a continuum of services for youth and adults with intellectual disabilities, including autism, and behavioral/mental health challenges. A year after we designed the visual identity, signage and wayfinding system for The Guild, we partnered with them to design an interactive mural experience for individuals in their community. We designed a templated coloring book system where community members colored in a piece of paper that we scanned and implemented into a larger mural at the entrance of The Neighborhood wing.
